"Fifth of working fathers would rather look after baby"

Wednesday, 2/26/2014

Moe than fifth of men wish they had looked after their children rather than returning to work according to a study done to help launch the Work and Family Show, which began in London last week. The research confirmed that fathers are in full time paid employment, more likey to be the sole or main breadwinner, work longer hours on average, and tend to commute longer than their female counterparts. Few employers have strategies to support the men in their workplace to combine their work and domestic committments. As a result of this, men are less likely to request flexible working, and if they do, are less likely to get it. For more information on this article and to read more about it, please visit..

There were over 20 sessions on health, many focuced on mental illness, dementia, and mindfulness. An unprecedented health summit began with the Prime Minister of Norway declaring that mental health was her leading health care priority. There was interest of both developing and developed countries in preventing and treating mental illness. This emergence of mental health as a hot topic at this year's meeting is just one example of the increasing recognition that the time has come to focus on this profound public health problem that has received too little attention.
